    <content type="html">&lt;a href="http://www.georgecarlin.com/" target="_blank"&gt;George Carlin&lt;/a&gt; has always been one of my favorite comedians.  I just saw his latest HBO special, &lt;a href="http://www.hbo.com/events/george-carlin/index.html" target="_blank"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;It's Bad For Ya&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/a&gt;, and at 71 he's still sharp as a tack... that is, until today &lt;a href="http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080623/ts_nm/carlin_dc" target="_blank"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;when he died of heart failure&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When he was young, he had a "cranky old man" character. Then he &lt;em&gt;became&lt;/em&gt; the cranky old man character!  The stuff he did was so smart that to me he wasn't really a comedian... he often crossed over into the realm of philosopher.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I suppose I don't have to tell you that this clip is NSFW:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;lj-embed id="81" /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Farewell George.     <content type="html">The problem with a surprise twist ending such as the one presented in this flick is that you can get trapped in the "Search For Spock" syndrome, whereby no sequel can be released without spoiling the end of this picture for those that haven't seen it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But much like &lt;strong&gt;Iron Man&lt;/strong&gt;, the strength of this picture is not the special effects - it's the lead actor.</content>

Jackson is on to promote his latest, &lt;strong&gt;Snakes on a Plane&lt;/strong&gt;.  &lt;br /&gt;I have never seen an actor happier to be in a movie. An unintended consequence: stepping out of the theater after the picture back onto the street, I noticed Hollywood Blvd suddenly seemed a lot more aggressive.</content>

    <content type="html">Season Five of &lt;a href="http://www.pennandteller.com/" target="_blank"&gt;Penn &amp; Teller&lt;/a&gt;'s fantastic Showtime show has been released on DVD, which made me happy... and then sad.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It's kinda sad that if you want really honest investigative reporting these days you have to go to &lt;em&gt;Penn and Teller&lt;/em&gt;, a pair of self-professed professional con men.  This isn't even their primary gig, they have a highly successful magic show in Las Vegas.
