a very relaxed sunday indeed. watched lots of boston legal, did a bit of laundry, tidied the flat, went out and pinched gardenias after it got dark. that's the only good thing about japan summer weather...the hot and sticky makes the gardenias explode into bloom. i probably pinched about 25 of them and have put them in every room of the house. love love love for the gardenias.
am now sitting in bed, tapping out a few emails, checking up on el gay and fb and winding down. i'm hoping to be asleep within an hour or so, in order to get up at 6 and beat the morning heat, because seriously...that hot and sticky by 0900 is just the major suck.
oops, forgot to voltaren the knees. will do that and then i'll finish watching 'mean girls', hopefully fall asleep by the end of it.
goodnight osaka godnat vejle goodnight kneeg and lixx goodnight gardenias all over my house goodnight lazy sunday goodnight to accomplishing 16.98km this week goodnight sleep loose

Help! Walk-in Doctor Appointment Yesterday I discovered a weird lump in my lower right abdomen. It doesn't hurt, but it definitely doesn't belong there. So I need to have a doctor look at it ASAP. Thanks to my job, I have insurance, but every doctor I've ever been to has at least a two or three week wait for the next appointment. And I don't think this merits the ER. I have next Monday off, so I was thinking of either doing a walk-in at Planned Parenthood or the LA Free Clinic in order to have SOMEONE just do a quick look at it. (I know Planned Parenthood is more for gynecological things but every time I've been there they've been amazing, and I think they'd be able to at least tell me if I need to run straight to a doctor or if I just tore a muscle or something.) Does anyone have experience doing a walk-in at the Free Clinic? Or any other suggestions? Thank you so much!!! Current Mood: worried |

Fires in CA. Sad and angry Watching the news. My beloved State and beautiful wildernesses and lovely residential areas are burning. I'm sad.
I'm angry that national and state (National Guard) resources are going to several war fronts instead of dealing with fires, flooding, tornadoes, etc. I've been angry about this and getting increasing so. |

another feather for my cap...literally ( yet another boring fitness post )for a total of 16.98km this week and i'm well ahead of my 40km in 4 weeks goal. :) ( feathers and fluff )two lyrics for my thoughts... It's holding me, morphing me And forcing me to strive To be endlessly cold within And dreaming I'm alive

Sunday Secrets http://postsecret.blogspot.com/2008/07/sunday-secrets.html PostSecret is an ongoing community art project where people mail in their secrets anonymously on one side of a postcard. -----Email Message----- Sent: Sunday, July 06, 2008 12:07 AM Subject: i'm ready to lose everything It's interesting - though you tagged this photograph as "I'm ready to love everything" and to me it looks like "I'm ready to lose everything," I wonder if in fact these vastly different phrases would still translate to the same meaning... -----Email Message----- Sent: Sunday, July 06, 2008 9:52 AM I just showed this to my husband and he said "Thank God." It took us 6 months and we felt like failures. -----Email Message----- Sent: Sunday, July 06, 2008 6:09 AM Whenever I walk by a White woman, I avoid looking at her so she won't think that I'll try to rob her. But really, I'm not a racist person. -----Email Message----- Sent: Sunday, July 06, 2008 9:15 AM When I walk by a black person I'm afraid they will think I am racist if I do OR if I don't look at them. -----Email Message----- Sent: Sunday, July 06, 2008 4:35 AM Being an EMT made me question my faith in god, but my coworkers gave me faith in humanity. -----Email Message----- To: Frank Warren I was reading PostSecret today and I happened to scroll down to the end of the page, and saw a photo of Kristin - a childhood friend that lived around the block from me in Florida. I did hear when she died, but I was very surprised to see the suicide hotline with Kristin's picture on it. After researching how the Kristin Brooks Hope Center was founded I had to pass along to Kristin's husband, Reese, that the love he has for her is overwhelming. His devotion to her memory is remarkable, and I just wanted him to know that a friend who knew Kristin a long time ago was proud that she married someone like him. Their child is blessed to have parents like Kristin and Reese. Thank you for all you do to help people in dark places find their light. -----Email Message----- From: Reese Butler [Founder, Kristin Brooks Hope Center] The ability and opportunity to connect with one of Kristin's childhood friends was a miracle and a gift from the PostSecret community. After Kristin's death I desperately tried to reach out to all the people she grew up with. It was important to me that people who did know her learned what happened to her and how they can prevent others from falling to the same fate. For over 3 years the PostSecret community has helped people learn that they share some of the deepest and darkest secrets and are not alone Thanks for this miracle. -----Email Message----- From: Frank Warren Subject: Struggling to meet a July 9th deadlineThe Kristin Brooks Hope Center needs your help today. Become a member of the 99 CLUB. Call Reese directly to arrange for a larger donation 202-669-8500 (yes, that is Reese's direct phone number, please be respectful). All donations are fully tax deductible and 100% of your donation will go directly to HopeLine. -----Email Message----- From: Reese Butler [mailto:reese@hopeline.com] Sent: Sunday, July 06, 2008 9:49 AM Subject: the campaign is working!Dear Frank, https://www.preventsuicide.net/99club/personal_pages.php?ppid=1055Over $10,000 in 8 hours and we have over 500 new donors. Scar I informed you all a while ago that I had received a nasty burn from the prongs that connect the hair dryer to the wall. It is healing a little but I will have a scar for a while. I am lucky that I don't scar well. Or do, I am not sure which but scars don't show on me well. My wife Showed up to today with out calling. Again. This time i was in a Towel, last time i was in my Jammies, the time before that I was asleep, the time before that I had curlers in. I love seeing her. She is awesome. In January we are Road tripping down to LA. SO EXCITED. She said Wild and Untamed things do and all Male Johnny Depp cast of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. OMG YES!!!! JOY-GASAM. We just have to decide if we are going to dress up like Johnny Depp Characters or Ladies ATTACHED to Johnny Depp Characters (Mrs. Lovett, Elizabeth Swan, Maybe Christan Richi's Character from Sleepy Hollow. What a great house party! K and I threw an intimate little house party yesterday... In honor of - A year anniversary of our wedding ceremony - Pre-legal marriage (Monday the 7th at SF City Hall!) - King David's turning 1 year old - love our friends - see the fire works - Wii!
We were up early cleaning. K started cooking early. Folks started arriving around 3pm and left around 11pm. K grilled for 4 hours non stop. We think about over 60 tpeople flowed through the house... Part of the house was the board and card game area and then the nosh and beverage area, the Wii freak area, the upper viewing deck, the BBQ deck... and then people wondered into the park-garden among the flowers as hummingbirds buzzed by. Others enjoyed themselves at the fire pit. People brought yummy stuff for the grill. Not surprising for the Bay Area many brought some serious gourmet meats and cheeses.
At one point we brought out the top layer of the wedding cake that we'd frozen for today and enjoyed it... Brought King David out from the cat sanctuary room and sand happy birthday to him. (Ok that sort of freaked him out.)
Watched our pal who's a choir master in real like play Raymon Rabbid's choir boy slapping game! Funny! Ok, I didn't have anything to do with instigating her to do that - really - not me. ;)
It's so amazingly lovely what K's done with the house and garden to make it so suitable entertainment. Lord knows if it was left to me the place would look like some grad-student squatter house. I love K!
From our home we have possibly the best fire work view in SF. While the rest of SF enjoyed colorfully glowing fog, our area is full of hours and hours of spectacular illegal firework shows that put the 3Com Park fire work to shame. Semi-jokingly we call it the local drug dealer's customer appreciation fireworks show. We can also see the 3Com Park fire works, the Candlestick fire works, the Alameda fireworks. We dressed in our traditional SF summer evening attire - hoodies, down vests, gloves, sweaters, long warm pants, boots, etc - under the heat lamps and enjoyed the view. As this was a warmer summer than usual at least we didn't have to fire up the fire place. For those of you who've never been to SF in the summer - No, I'm not joking.
I was so busy and having fun with entertaining that I forgot to take photos. If you came to the party and took photos, please e mail them to me! |

Macbook Pro screen stays black So, I woke up this morning to discover that my Macbook Pro screen will not load. I turn on my computer, I hear the hard drive start up and the start sound, and my screen just stays black. I called Apple and troubleshot it, and I'm taking it down to an Apple store tomorrow, but I was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else and if it took long to fix. I'd really rather not have to leave it with them for days, so any experience at all in this area would be great. :) |

Ebay stores / I sold it stores Hey all, I am helping a friend of mine get rid of some collectables. Among them he has vintage dolls, toys, fountain pens, magazines, leather items....all kinds of stuff. i'm going to put some up on ebay for him, but we would like to walk some stuff in to an Ebay store as well. Can anyone recommend a place in the hollywwod / west hollywood area. If not in this area, we are willing to drive a little ways (the valley, the west side) to get this stuff moved out. Just want to find a place that will give us a good deal and is easy to do business with. Any comments, suggestions and shared experiences are most appreciated! Thank you!!!! Current Mood: busy |

VISITING LA Some friends and I are coming out to LA from Denver to see the Yaz show at the Orpheum on July 10th and will be staying downtown, a few blocks from the theater. Despite having been born and raised in San Diego, I never really knew LA that well. Plus, it's been over ten years since I've been back to California, so I know nothing about current restaurants, etc. I did review this post and took down a few notes. But I'd like some more suggestions. We'll probably have a car, so we can drive. But, I'm not really keen on driving long distances just to eat. I'm looking for restaurant recommendations that would be fairly close to where we'll be staying (Westin, Bonaventure). I'm open to Mexican food, but, to be honest, we get awesome Mex here in Colorado, so that's not a high priority. Good Asian food, sushi, steak houses or fusion restaurant recommendations would be great! Middle Eastern or Indian food recs are welcome, too. I have a feeling that we'll be doing the typical tourist things -- Disneyland, Mann's Chinese Theater, etc. We're all kind of eldergoths, too -- any good club nights for gothy/EBM/synthpop Friday or Saturday? 80s (synth/new wave) music would be fine, too. Thanks in advance for any replies! Current Mood: good |

Movie Review: WANTED Before i went to see it I had heard good thing about the movie Wanted, the film where James McAvoy stars as a mild-mannered accountant who is recruited into a secret society of assassins and trained in the art of killing. Angelina Jolie and Morgan Freeman play the mentoring assassins. Then I saw it. This is one of the STUPIDEST films I have EVER SEEN!!! it is your usual super hero move plot: "Mild-mannered guy some how discovers/developes super powers so that he can do things that no one else can." that is about as far as their plot went. What, did the writers DIE during the middle of the script and you pay some people who don't speak english to finish the script? There is only so much reality I can suspend in a movie that still claims to take place on Earth in the 21st century to a person who is a human. This film asks too much of the audience.
So of the GIANT faults and Plot Holes i picked these as the main reason this film sucks, and no, I am not putting ti behind a cut because I am trying to say you the 10 bucks byt telling you NOT to go to this movie: 1-this 1,000 year old league of assassins takes orders from a LOOM, yes a FUCKING LOOM, my issues with this is the fact that it is an electric loom and they didn;t have those 1000 years ago. if it was one run but some 1,000 year old monk I might have believed that more. 2- this loom speaks BINARY!!! THEY DIDN:T HAVE BINARY CODE 1000 YEARS AGO!!!!!! 3- a bullet cannot go in a perfect circle and throw the skulls of 9 people with out slowing down or changing course. If it could it would continue spinning in that circle constantly. In Angelina Jolie's character a reincarnation of Lee Harvey Oswald?
So they ya go. Save the fucking 10.75 and go see Wall-E or Mongol or something GOOD. Current Mood: aggravated |
